It can be very beneficial to know another language. With globalization increasing every day more and more businesses are doing business in other countries. People who speak more than one language are very in demand as employees so learning another language can greatly increase someone’s earning potential. Learning another language is not usually prioritized in the US but students in other countries often take English language courses in addition to a native language. Sometimes wealthy students will attend English language schools to improve their English skills. Adults who want to learn another language can take an online language course, or study another language at home. Sometimes an employer will pay for an employee to go to a language school to learn another language for business reasons.

School Language Requirements

Most schools require students to learn English plus a foreign language in high school. Some foreign language courses may be required in college as well. Learning another language in school is a great way to study foreign languages for free. The opportunity to take multiple language courses is one of the biggest benefits of college. Many high schools and colleges will offer students who are taking advanced foreign language study to go abroad to study that language by immersion. There are unlimited job opportunities for people who know more than one language. People who are multi lingual can work as teachers both at home and abroad, or as translators for business or school, writers and editors who can write and edit in multiple languages, or as customer service reps. Customer service and business personnel who can speak more than one language are highly sought after as the number of people in the US whose primary language is not English grows. Spanish is the second most spoken language in the US next to English, so business professionals who speak Spanish can have very lucrative careers.
